Declining compliance with the petition from the inhabitant of Leerut complaining of the late misconduct of the Calcutta Militia and soliciting compensation for their property said to have been destroyed on the occasion, on the ground that compensation obviously could not be granted on the bare assertions of the complainants without any corroborative proof of thier correctness and under all the circumstances of the case.
