(Pakistan) Railway and non-settlement of the Indian Railway's claim on this account against that Railway- Item 9 of India agenda for the Indo-Pakistan Railway Standing Committee 1953. The question regarding adjustment of outstanding claims of Indian and Pakistan Railways on account of Indo-Pakistan traffic not accounted for by Pakistan and Indian Railways came up for consideration at the Indo-Pakistan Railway Standing Committee meeting held at New Delhi in December, It was agreed that (i) claims of either side which have been submitted within the prescribed time and limit should be accepted provided they are shown to be correct, and (ii) claims which could not be submitted within the prescribed time limit should also be accepted by the other side provided the party raising the claim could provide proof of the genuineness of the claim from the records available with either side. For this purpose, both the parties agree to make their records available for check by the other side where necessary. If, in any case, records are not available the party unable to produce the records should furnish records signed by an officer of a level not lower than the Deputy Head of a Department.
