With reference to a letter of the 6th Ultimo, report that they have issued instructions to the Commissariat Department at the Presidency in conformity with the Regiment quoted within, that a Gomashta is to be sent with every Detachment of Europeans exceeding 7 Men, proceeding on board Steamers; and request to Know whether it is the desire of Govt that an Agent of the Department should be sent with smaller Detachments. & state their opinion that arrangements might be made in such cases by the fCommander of the Vessel.
