The Office of Audit having objected to pay Captain Macdonald's Military pay, because he has been appointed Mahratta Translator to Government. I think that application should be made to the Supreme Government for authority to pay it to him as Captain Macdonald’s military pay includes command of his company. The pay of Mahratta Translator to Government is 300 Rupees a month. It was of course not intended that he should lose by his appointment which may add was offered to him because he had lost the appointment which he previously held.
