To Superintendent Geological Survey - Acknowledge two foregoing letters and states that the papers submitted by him will be forwarded to the Honble Court and in regard to his own salary this Government will urge the propriety of fixing it at 1250 Rs. per month adds that the Honble Court will be requested to sanction a scheme of General increase in the Salaries of his assistant as proposed by him. Gives directionn as to the course and system of operation to be adopted by him in conducting the Geological Survey in future and the manner in which his Reports are to be made to Government and that he is not to act upon any instructions he may desire from any quarters without previous reference to the Government of India in the Department. the Government approve of his proposal to extend the Survey to Madras authorize his engaging 3 or 4 additional assistant to enable him to do so on 300 Rs. per month with the usual travelling allowance communicates the decisioin of Government on the question
