S.E. Rly: Should a probationary officer whose probationary period has been periodically extended because he failed the department 1 examinations be kept unconfirmed for an additional period of time to ensure that he is suitable for confirmation in service?-It was decided that a probationer could only be confirmed in Class I if he was considered qualified for appointment in the Class I Service overall. This suggests that in addition to passing every departmental exam, the probationers overall record must also be judged to be satisfactory in every way
