In reply to financial letter no 116 dt 31st augt 1857 sanction the abolition of the marine board at Madras and authorise the appointment of marine there on a salary of Rs 1000 a month also sanction the proposed appointment of an assistant to the Superintendent on a saalry of Rs 400 a month .
