Chief Secretary Madras - Replies to letter of the 23rd Ultimo witholding sanction to the Establishment of a line of T. from the Public Officies in the Fort to the T. Office in Black Town Explains that the T. line had been commenced upon by order of the Madras Government and furnished before the receipt of the letter from this Government above acknowledge. Explains the reasons that lead the Madras Government to adopt this here of proceeding in the present instance and adds that orders have been issued to stop the further working of the T. line in question until the wishes of this Government are Known.
