Secretary Governor General - In reply to letter dated 5th Instant communicates His Lordships observations on the subject of the extension of Mr. Simms engagment for 2 months for the purpose of his proceeding to Madras and Bombay to examine the proposed Railway at those places - His Lordships thinks that it would be now for the interests of the Govenment to retain Mr. Simms at Calcutta until the repary of his engagment by which time an answer will be recieved from the Honble Court of Director as to Mr. Simms successor & to prolong his engagment for two months far his visit to Bombay.
