Read a Despatch No. 101 of 1859, dated the 14th October from the Right Honble the Secretary of State for India, remarking in reply to letter No. 67, dated the 10th June, that there is noting in the circumstances of the case of Mr. Robert Brain, Agent for the proprietor of a piece of ground at Singapore, called Torying Pegar to give him a claim to any compensation from Government or to any assinance regarding the terms of the ground in question which is not afforded to other proprietors of land.
