With reference to No. 1166, General, forwards an explanation from Moonshee Ameer Ali Khan Bahadoor, under instruction from His Majesty, relative to the charges of the menagerie not being in any way extravagant; and observes that, as already pointed out to the King, the real cause of the great expense is the unnecessary number of animals and birds kept. Adds that the Agent can, however, hold out no hope of his advice on this point being acted on by His Majesty.
