In reference to para 7& 9 of G L G G no. 61 18 march 1840 submits that in consideration of all offensive opration in china having long since ordered the govt. of madras recommend that the ordinary rates of table monsy may be made applicable in further to the service in that country andd that the absence of pay may be also limited as for all other forgin service to the period of two month.
