His Excellency the Governor General in Council being desirous to send an Engineer Officer of experience to Rangoon, on a special duty, has selected Lieutenant Colonel Baird Smith, C.B., for this purpose. It is desirable that he should proceed to Burma by the next opportunity; and it is not expected that the duty will require his absence to be protracted beyond the return of the same Steamer.
