Read the following Telegraphic Message from the Superintendent of Electric Telegraphs in India, dated Bangalore, the 29th October 1855. The Calcutta workshop is almost useless and costs enormous sums. I propose to transfer it along with Mr. Cribble to Madras, where it will be under the supervision of Mr. Blissett, who is himself an accomplished mechanic. I warrant that the change would lead to the best results and less expense. It should give the order without further delay, the issue is most urgent; and it is very doubtful when we can get more instruments from Europe. The President in Council begs that you will write officially by Post about the removal of the workshop to Madras.
