The Home Department determined that the phrase British India or of its dependencies or of the states in alliance with it in the bond form prescribed for Civil hospital assistants in 1903, included Aden and the frontier within Indian Limits and could be interpreted as equivalent to the term India defined in section 3(27) of the general Clauses act 1897 (X of 1897)
