From Chief Secretary - Referring to the sanction accorded by the Supreme Government, in January last, to the entertainment of a waterman at each of the Civil Dispensaries at Coonoor, Maduree, & Coimbatore, on Rs. 7, Rs. 4 & Rs. 5 respectively and calling for explanation why the waterman require to be paid at different rates - States that it has been as certained from the Officer in charge of the office of Director General, Medical Department, that the rates of pay of Hospital servants at Coonoor in the Neilgherry Hills are generally higher than those of the law country.
