Governor - Refers to the sanction accorded in this Department on the 31st October last to his proposed revision of the suordinate Medical Establishment at singapore at a total cost of Rs. 776 per month and states he has forward it unpracticable to adopt the scale atonce as the required buildings also sanctioned by this Government in connection with the Medical Department at singapore will not be erected and in use for some time be therefore submits as a temporary measure pending the erection of the Buildings referred to a statement of a modified Establishment to be # until the sanctioned scale can be brought into operation the cost of which is Rs. 735 per month or Rs. 41 less than the cost of the sanctioned scale and the arrangement to have effect from the 1st March 1857.
