Read a Despatch No. 2 of 1859, dated the 12th January from the Right Honble the Secretary of State for India, forwarding, with reference to Paras30 - 36 of Railway Despatch No. 39 dated 2nd September 1857, copy of correspondence with Mr. H. Hayman, on the subject of the proposed formation of a company in England, for the purpose of Establishing Iron Works in the neighbourhood of Jubbulpore. Inquires whether, on accordance with the authority conveyed in the Despatch above mentioned, any engagement has been entered into with parties in India for leasing the Mines in question. Communicates the general terms which His Lordship would be prepared to grant as an agreement with a properly constitued and well supported company, in the event of no negeciations having been entered into with parties in India, & invites an expression of the views of this Government as to the last, means of ensuring the successful carrying out of the Scheme in question.
