Read a Despatch No. 12 of 1859 dated the 31st January from the Right Honble the Secretary of State for India, transmitting a Memorial from Mr. Cheuchor, of Etah, to be returned to that gentemen with the intimation that it should have been forwarded that the Government of India, with whom it rests to reward or to recommend for reward to the Home Authorities, Individuals who may have distingaished themselves in the recent disturbances in this Country. Also requesting that Mr. Churcher be informed that admission to the Civil Service can only be effected in recordance with the provisions of the Act of Parliament on the subject.
