Acting Secretary - Reports that the has not yet been able to appoint the 18th Deputy Collectors sanctioned ont he 24th October 56 in cense quence of the cendition attached to the sanction Viz. that early steps should be adopted terand the alleration of the status & salaries of the Sherishtadars States that no reduction of the desereption required by the Government of India is possible with the # and sanctioned for the entere presidency where 60 are required & pounts out that the liunted assistance asked for is & has been urgently required quite endependently of any enter ference with the position & salaries of the present shereshladars & requests that early measures by adopted for the reduction of the states & salaries of the present sherisladars on the 18 # Collector already sanctioned being appointed.
