To Chief Secretary Government of Madras - In reply states that in declining to confirm the appointment of Lieut Chauncey as Superintendent of the Electric Telegraph the Government of India acted in obedience to the Honble Courts orders decline also to permit the transfer of Mr. Buntne to Calcutta as a 1st Class Assistant has been appointed from England and Superintendent the Telegraph and has joins his appointment.
