To Secretary - In reply - Stating that Government has no objection to the leave granted to Mr. Sutherland, but if Dr. Esdaile is qualified to be appointed protempore, the entire salary of the Principal will be payable to his receipt; the arrangement under which Mr. Sutherland shall receive 1/2 his salary must be considered a private one and to rest with the Committee to settle.
