The Governer General lalys begfore the Board the following Statement, and proposes that similar infomation be required form the Madras and Bombay Governments statement shewing the number of covenanted Civil Servants and the allowances drawn by them on the 1st May 1823 & 1827 respectively and in 1839. Also the number of Military Officers & otlhers in the civil employ of Government in those dates and the allowances drawn by them, exclusively of the Law, Medical and Ecclesiastical Departments.
