Draft of a letter to the Brigadier-General Thomas Goddard expressing surprise and concern at the high rate of exchange at which bills at Surta have ben drawn on the Compnay forbidding the drawing of any more of thise bills promising to seng 15 laks of rupees reducing the Field Engineer s allowance to a Captains pay and batta with Rs. 100 per mensem for contingencies ordering the reduction of the icnreased pay at present allowed to the artillery on the Bombay establishment to the original pay on the reinforcements from Bombay joining the detachment forbidding any more volunteers from being taken on in the service confirming Mr. Smith s appointment as Deputy Paymaster to the detachment and intimating that the Agent for Army Clothing has been ordered not to supply any clothing for the use of the detachment for the year 1778.
