Copy of a letter from Brigadier-General Norman Macleod to the President and Council of Bombay, enclosing his account current with Mr. Lighton, Paymaster, an account of his pay and allowances fromthe 1st May, 1784, to the 31st May,1785, and of dewany as Colonel and Brigadier-General, also an account of money paid to the Mahrattas to secure the release of the Ranger Snow, and requesting that he may be granted bills or certificates for the amount due to him. Copy of a letter from Mr. James Hasiey, Secretary at Bombay, to Brigadier-General Norman Macleod, stating that the latter is entitled to dewany from the 1st November, 1782, to the 31st May, 1735, as Colonel and other allowances of the same rank from the 1st May, 1784, to the 31st May, 1785, declining to admit the charge for payment tò the Mahrattas, but agreeing to refer he matter to the Court of Directors, and stating that the amount to be paid to him will be considered on receipt of the account current from Mr. Lighton, Paymaster. Copy of a letter from Brigadier-General Norman Macleod to the President and Council of Bombay, requesting reconsideration of his claim to dewany as Brigadier-General, soliciting the grant of a certificate on Bengal to the effect that he received no pay and allowances from the 30th April, 1784, and that rupees 10,465 were paid by him to the Mahrattas, and enclosing a statement of the balances due to him by the Paymaster Copy of a letter from Mr. James Hatley, Secretary at Bombay, to Brigadier-General Macleod, stating that he is only entitled to the allowances assigned to the rank of Colonel, intimating that the decision regarding the rupees paid to the Mahrattas cannot be reconsidered, and stating that a certificate will be given to him as requested
