In reply to his letter No. 316, dated 29th july 1869, sumbitting the views of Sir William merewether on the proposal of the Resident at Aden to depute an Assistant to berbera during the trading season, sttes that, before passing orders on the subject His Excellency in Council would wish to have hte opinion of Sir E.Russell on the proposal, and will therefore await this officer`s return from leave.
