Informed in reply to no. 3743 of the 28th Ultimo, relative to the loss of some shot & shells while in their transit from Delhie to Phillour on Hackeries the cost of Which had it been Known to the Commissary of Ordnance shold have been deducted from the Hire due to the Hackery owner the President in Council is pleased as the detention of the Hackeries pending a reference to their Board would have involved more in demurrage than the worth of the stores.
