Informed in reply to no. 252 of the 5th Instant, that after a review of all the circumstances, the President in Coucil considers the period of Major Hills Furlo of the 70th Native Infantry to be correctly reckned from the 8th December 1836, the date on which he crossed the frontier of the Bengal Presidency.
