In reply to a despatch of the 25th ultimo intimates tht the Govr. Genl authorized the usual subsistence allowance tobe passed to the wife serjeant Martin of the sappers and pioneers during his employment in scinde in the ground that the Bombay regts. authorized the grant of the allowance to European soldiers similarly situated and requests that the President in Council will lay down general rule regarding the issues of subsistence allowance tothe wives of the soldiers employed away from Mily duties o p returned.
