In reply to letter no 314 dated 13th Instt , from this Dept, transmit for Report , one from Lt. Geeneral sir W. M Gomms intimates that from the date Lt. Gl , sir C, J Napuir ,G,C.B assumed the office of the Commander in Cheif in India, the allowances of General Lord Gough and his staff, ceased, no interval having this oecured in which those allowances had been left and down the admipion of any portion of them to Lt. General Gonrm or his staff, would become a double charge to the state and to which the Regt. are stristy by opposed there being no preecdent to be traeed in the reconds of his office of a case similar to the present ,, having accurred the adjustments of the Lt. General Claim must neceessary be left to the Home authoreities OP returned.
