With reference to miliy dept letter no 698 of the 23rd ultimo states, that the calculation of the mily board for the allowance to be granted monthly to regiments on account of moltliquor suplied to the canteens were communicated to his deptt. by the adjt. general of the army on the 28th December and a reply will be immediagely submittd that off. observe tht the distinction between the profit allowed to canteens on arack and the monthly allowance has been strongly laid down.
