With reference to the table of the pay and allowance published in genl. ordrs 12th augt. 1842 solicits instructions whether the Rates of House rent therein laid down are to supersed generally those antecedently authorized and who there they are to interfece with the higher rates of house rent authorized in lr. from this deptt. 17th march 1821.
