Letter from the Select Committee, Fort St. George to David Anderson Esq. at the Court of Poona, dated the 21st March 1782. States that Hyder Ali who is in possession of the greater part of Carnatic has been joined by 3000 French troops. British troops are inadequate to oppose the combined forces. Requests speedy conclusion of a peace with the Marathas.
