Ministry of Labour and Employment. Proposal to amend the payment of Wages Act, 1936 to provide for deductions being made on account of various forms of traffic debits etc. The following amendments which the Ministry of Railways had suggested to the Ministry of Labour were included in the payment of Wages (Amendment) Act, 1964 which came into force from 1.2.1965:- Deductions from wages which are authorised under section 7(2) of the Act- (1) Recovery of all advances including advances for travelling allowance and the interest due there of ; (2) Recovery of loans made from any fund constituted for the welfare of labour in accordance with the rules approved by the state Government, and the interest due in respect there of; (3) recovery of loans granted for house- building or other purposes approved by the state Govt. and the interest due in respect thereof; (4) deductions for payment of insurance premia on Fidelity Guarantee Bonds; and (5) Recovery from staff on account of traffic debits.
