Instructions were given in response to directives from the CRB stating that (i) casual labourers working on projects should typically be appointed against Class IV posts that may be necessary for the upkeep and operation of newly constructed assets, such as new lines, conversions, doubling, substantial yard remodelling, etc. That is to say, only casual labourers who have experience working on projects should be considered for the open positions. Only in the event that open line casual labourers are employed on building projects in the region covered by the local rectt may an exception be granted. The requirement of six months of continuous service will still be in place in order to be eligible for regular postings
