The decision was made that in the event that a non-gazetted railway employee, who is eligible for house rent allowance regardless of where they live, is promoted to a gazetted post, they should be allowed to keep receiving the same benefits under the same terms as they did in the non-gazetted position, provided that their total (net) earnings while serving in the gazetted position do not exceed Rs. 75/-from what they would have received in the non-gazetted position
