Correspondence regarding the 14.8.1947 adjustment in relation to sale proceeds of lost and unclaimed preparation property on hand with the former No. W and B.A. Railways. The decision was made by N. Rly to abandon their lawsuit against the N.W. Rly (Pakistan) for unclaimed property that was in possession on 14.8.47 with the former N.W. Rly. Similar to any other prepared receipt actually realised in the post-partition era, the selling revenues of prepartition lost property. According to the Ministry of Finance, pre-partition receipts are to be retained by India if they are realised in India and are not to be shared with the Government of Pakistan following the division of the undivided Government of India's financial balances. Therefore, the receipts for sale proceeds of lost property are to be kept in India if they are realised there, and in Pakistan if they are realised in Pakistani territory
