In reply to his letter of 7th instant, the Resident reports having called on the Durbar to restore the stray elephant, but with reference to a rule here that such animals shall only be given up if claimed within 26days of their capture and ten per cent. of their value be paid. Colonel Ramsay enquires what course he is to pursue if the Durbar attempts to enforce this rule in the present case
