With refernce to Mily. departmnt letter no. 829 & 173 of the 23rd may & 7th july last forwards copy of despatch from th commissary of Benaras states that it would be a prefreable arranegment to place a joint magisrtraite at chunart or to transfer a large part of the present cantonment limits to the civil jurisdiction but the Lt. Gover. is not prepared to recommend the increase of charge for that purpose .
