Read a Despatch No. 95 of 1859, dated the 9th June, from the Right Honble the Secretary of State for India, stating that a confidential Officer will be deputed to South America, during the ensuting Season to make a Collection of Seeds and Plants of the Quiniferous Cinchonas, and convey them to Calcutta, Madras and Ceylon. Requests that the Superintenedent of the Botanic Garden at Calcutta may be called upon to report his opinion respecting the best locality for planting the Cinchonas, and to communicate any other observations which he may deem useful respecting the cultivation of those plants in India.
