To Secretary - States that his letter No. 3649 of the 29th November last to the address of the Secretary to Government in the Public Works Department & its enclosure, togethers with a correspondence relating to the provision of Public Neacssaries in the vicinity of Towns & Stations having been referred to the Department - observes that the correspondence has direct reference to the conservancy of the Cantoments of Raneegunge & its vicinity - the local civil authorities states that there is a legal difficulty in enforcing be use of public necessaries & punishing necessaries beyond the limits of the contonments - The attention of the Governmetn of Bengal has been drawn to what has been done in the North West Provinces - The instruction issued in the North West Provinces have already been communicated to the Local Authority in Bengal, & it is open to the Lieut.
