To Officiating Director General - With reference to his letter of the 14th Instant submitting voluninous Correspondence in original & soliciting sanction to the continuance of the Mail Cjontracts therein refered to forwards for his information & guidance copy of the instructions issued by the General in 1834 with a view to check the practice of sending up undigested Masses of papers to government - REturns his letter under acknowledgement with all its enclosers & requests that in accordance with the orders of 1854 he will embody in his on refering letter as much of the contants of three enclosers as may be necessary for the due comprehension of the proposal that the forwards on them retransmitting only such accompaniments a appiem to him absolutely indispensible.
