Chief Secretary - Acknowledge receipt of letter of the 10th September last requesting to he furnished with a narrative in print of the proceedings of that Governmentrelative to the introduction of the provisions of act XXVI of 1850 into the Town of that Presidency with returns such as those furnished by the Bombay Government in No. XXVII of their selections states that all attempts that have been made to bring the act into operation in that presidency have wholly failed annexes a precis of the Correspondence that has taken place with the local officers detailing the endeavours that have been made to give effect to the act & to the results that have followed.
