Junior Secretary - In advertance to the request contained in letter of the 10 September 1856 calling for a narrative of the proceedings of that Government relative to the introduction of the provisions of Act XXVI of 1850 with returns of the working of that act in the Towns & Villages in which it has been introduced to be submitted in from & spiret like the Bombay Report states that the information requisite to comply with the above instruction has been put together but before giving effect to them brings to notice that the most important papers on the subject of mofussil municipal law & conservancy were printed by the Legal Council in connection with the bill to modify that act introduced to the council by Mr. Mills in December 1854. The return of the operation of the act in the few towns in which it has been introduced is unimportant & therefore desires to know whether the printing of the papers may not for the present be postponed.
