To Secretary Bengal - With reference to the recommendation contained in the Under Secretarys letter of tghe 22nd ultimo agrees with the Lieut Governer in thinking that great benefits will result by encouraging officers of the Educational Department to study the native languages and accordingly approves and sanctions the proposal with the proviso that no person allowed to take both rewards , specified in that officers letter for the same language.
