Draft of a letter to M.Chevalier, explaining the cause of the delay in delivering the opium and saltphetro to the French, fixing three -foarths of the Calcutta fee for pilotage to Kedgre proving that the duty of 10 per cent demanded by the founder at Hughly on salt imported by French merchants is not an exaction and intimating that as regards the complaint in the above letter of a duty of 30 percent being levied on the vessel laden with coast salt, the Founder has been desired not to exceed the orders of the Government.
