Copy of a letter from Sir John Day to the Chariman of the Court of Directors reporitng his arrival at Calcutta stating that one of the reasons for his long stay at Madras was that he obtained his leabve from that Presidency only on the 2nd September also suggestin the constitution at Madras of a new Court of wider and more various jurisdiction than that of the Mayor s Court.
