GILGIT AFFAIRS. Sanction to the permanent retention of the military garrisons at Gupis and Chalt, and to the transfer of the head-quarters of the regiments at Gilgit and Bunji to Yasin and Rattu during the summer. Strategical importance of Gakuch as an outpost over Gupis, and desirability of holding it by Imperial Service Troops instead of levies. Proposals to reduce the number of Political Officers employed in theGilgit Agency and to appoint the Assistant Political Agent at Gilgit as Political Officer of Gilgit Sub-division, with an allowance of R100 a month from the Kashmir State.
