In reply to No. 401-27, dated 4th ultimo, submitting copy of a further correspondence regarding the proposed appointment of a European Constable and Bailiff for the Coorg Court, informs that His Excellency in Council. prefers the alternative measure recommended by the Judicial Commissioner, and is prepared to sanction the appointment of a European Jailor to the charge of the Merwara Jail on a salary of Rupees 150 per mensem, allowing the Magistrate to use the Jailor as a Constable or Bailiff as occasions may require.
