With reference to No. 998, dated 18th May last, sanctions the grant to Mr. J. King, late Superintendent of the Presidency Jail, Calcutta, of a pension of Rupees 239-40 per mensem, equal to half of his average monthly salary during the last five years of service; and observes that this amount cannot be increased in consideration of his claims in respect of the rent of the house in the Jail buildings known as ``Tucker`s House,`` or of the value of the free quarters enjoyed by him.
